Two ranked 5-0 teams that are part of a rivalry that is already heated have made it tough to get a ticket to the Michigan State-Michigan game.

According to one of the largest ticket brokers in the nation, Stubhub.com, the game is the No. 1 event this year for metro Detroit already based on average ticket sales. It exceeds the Jay-Z/Eminem concerts held in Comerica Park, and for the series rivalry is its top ticket for the last 10 years or since when it was tracked by Stubhub.

On Tuesday Stubhub spokesperson Joellen Ferrer said, it’s one of the five games in college football for the whole season.

Rich Rodriguez tried to find something that would temper the success of his offense in Michigan’s 65-21 win on Saturday over Bowling Green.

However even Rodriguez had to concede this game’s offense was what he dreams of running.

Rodriguez said, we didn’t punt and had a total of 31 first downs. That’s pretty efficient I would think. The whole day I felt comfortable that we would be able to get first downs. We didn’t need to do much. Like all other coaches, you go in having your big play list but only end up running a small percentage of them. That’s a good thing probably. That way you don’t show your next opponent too much.

Michigan barely pulled off defeating University of Massachusetts by a score of 42-37. Players from the losing team said it was tough dealing with the defeat in a game they feel they might have won. The coach for University of Massachusetts summed the game up by saying he didn’t think his team had played well on defense and that the special teams could have given a better performance. There were also several mistakes made on offense which contributed to the loss.

The Wolverines scored 28 unanswered points from late second quarter through mid third quarter. Michigan had a big lead that they gave up eventually. However they were able to hold on for a narrow victory. The game was hard fought by both teams.

Roy Roundtree in the game was the go to big play receiver. He caught three passes for a total of 121 yards and scored two touchdowns. He had eight catches in the prior game for over 160 yards. In both games he was the top receiver.

Let’s talk about this. Stop worrying we will jinx things. This is for real and we need to discuss it.

Denard Robinson has positioned himself as the leader of the watch list for the Heisman trophy after the first two weeks of the season. He isn’t close to the top. He is the top.

There isn’t another player in the entire country that can match Robinson’s performances versus Notre and UConn. In only two games his team compiled nearly 900 offensive yards and his quarterback rating is almost 150. Nine hundred offensive yards in only two games. That is not a typo.

Rich Rodriguez wishes his secret of who was going to be Michigan’s starting quarterback that he kept all throughout the preseason could remain in place heading into the game on Saturday versus Notre Dame.

On Monday Michigan’s head football coach said, come on why aren’t you asking me the questions you asked me last week? Ask if he will play. Will he be the starter? Has his passing improved?

Consider these questions asked and answered.

For those who were hoping that Michigan would name who their starting quarterback is going to be sometime this week, or may next week which leads up to their season opener, they are going to be quite disappointed.

Right now the starting job competition appears to be between Tate Forcier and Denard Robinson, with Robinson having a slight edge if some of the media’s gut feelings are to be believed.

Of course Rich Rodriguez, Michigan’s head coach, isn’t leaning publicly towards either one of them, choosing instead to keep everybody guessing. Rodriguez this afternoon indicated he is keeping that same tactic up with all that are involved, including his players.

In the months and days leading up to coach Rich Rodriguez’ third summer camp with Michigan, he’s been telling all that will listen that Denard Robinson and Tate Forcier are in a head to head battle for becoming the starting quarterback for the Wolverines.

According to words from one of the seniors on the team, however, that isn’t the case anymore.

Cornerback Troy Woolfolk, speaking on Tuesday afternoon at the Big Ten media day, blasted Forcier for not participating this summer in voluntary workouts. He said that he and other seniors have begun to question last year’s starting quarterback’s work ethic.

The original home of the Michigan Wolverines is back and it is a lot better and bigger than what we remember.

With a seating capacity of 109,901 (which by the way is a clever ambigram to boast the stadium’s whooping seating capacity), and the addition of more premium seats such as the club seats and club suites, Dave Brandon, who spearheads the University of Michigan’s Intercollegiate Athletics department said in an interview that the stadium’s renovations will be completed just in time for college football season and the Wolverines’ opening game.

Lloyd Carr, former head coach of the Michigan Wolverines, is leaving the mentorship post for good after being part of the university’s successful sporting campaign for three decades. His retirement will take effect on September 1, two months after the legendary football coach turns 65.

During his 13-year tenure as head coach, he led the Wolverines to a 1997 National Championship, five Big Ten Conference wins and into their recent successful campaign as Capital One Bowl champs two years ago, after which he relinquished the coaching post to take over the Associate Athletic Director job until his retirement.

As he prepares to say goodbye to his magnanimous collegiate athletic career, Carr said through a press statement that he is “thankful” for Joe Roberson’s trust when he assigned him as head coach in 1995, the opportunity to work alongside predecessor Coach Gary Moeller, successor Coach Bo Schembechler, and all the other football coaches, and the friendships he have forged throughout the years, in and out of the field.

He added that he is most thankful for having the opportunity to impart knowledge and harness the skills of all the players who are part and parcel of the university’s football winning tradition. We’re pretty certain that the university reciprocates the appreciation as Carr leaves them a legacy of winning more than a hundred games for the Wolverines (122-40 win-loss record), which aside from him, has only been achieved by two other coaches – Schembechler and Fielding Yost. In addition, the school’s athletic director Dave Brandon, calls Carr “a man of integrity”, with a fervor for both the sport and its players, and with a kind heart as well, as Carr is also noted for his efforts and involvement in the state’s charity and humanitarian works.
